Discover the mountainous massif of Montserrat, just a few kilometers from Barcelona, and admire its Black Madonna and royal basilica!
After a 1-hour bus journey from the center of Barcelona, you'll reach the heights of the massif, by cogwheel train.
Once you've reached the San Jeroni summit at over 1,236 meters, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the Catalonia Pyrenees and the Mediterranean. The massif's name comes from the Catalan words "Mont" and "Serrat" meaning "jagged mountain", a more than evocative name for this giant of rocks and needles classified as a National Park in 1987.
Your guide will then accompany you to the Royal Basilica of the monastery of Montserrat, a truly exceptional site and emblem of the Catalonia region. Here you'll discover the famous Black Madonna, Patron Saint of Catalonia, and discover Gothic and Renaissance architecture rich in detail.
At the heart of the monastery, and depending on option, you may have the opportunity to hear the children's choir singing around midday (depending on your day of visit).
You'll then enjoy some free time to sample 4 traditional monastery liqueurs and explore the surrounding area. Why not take a short walk to the Croix de Sant Miquel? You'll enjoy one of the best views of the surrounding area.
You'll finally reach Barcelona in the early afternoon, admiring the picturesque and typically Catalan villages parading along the road.
