Set off to discover Tombstone, one of the Wild West's most legendary towns!
Departing from your hotel in Phoenix, Scottsdale or Tempe, you'll set off on a private day trip to Tombstone. Your first stop is the San Xavier del Bac mission, one of the best preserved in the southwestern USA. Characterized by Spanish colonial architecture and Native American influences, it is nicknamed the "White Dove of the Desert". Accompanied by your guide, you'll learn more about the frescoes and statues on display inside the building.
You'll then head to Tombstone, one of the most famous towns in the history of Western America. The one nicknamed "the town that can't die" will impress you with its typical Western setting. Once the metropolitan center of the American West, bandits, sheriffs, ranchers and miners flocked to the region in search of riches.
With your guide's commentary, you'll learn more about the history of the Wild West and the town's various buildings. In particular, you'll discover the famous Boot Hill Cemetery, where the victims of the many shootouts and confrontations that took place in the town are buried. You'll also enter the Tombstone Courthouse, a tribute to those who tried to keep the peace in this rough and dangerous town. Your guide will also tell you the story of the Bird Cage Theatre, which had the reputation of being "the most evil nightclub between Basin Street and the Barbarian Coast".Finally, you'll retrace the footsteps of the American West's most famous shootout, at the OK Corral.
At the end of the day, you'll take the road back to your hotel.
