Explore northern Taiwan and its must-see sites on the outskirts of Taipei: Yehliu, Jiufen, and Pingxi!
You'll meet your guide in downtown Taipei, and hop on the bus to begin your tour of Taiwan's north. Your first stop is the Yehliu Ecological Park, one of the most important natural sites on the island. Located on the seashore an hour north of Taipei, it is famous for its impressive rock formations created by erosion.
You'll then take the road to Jiufen (or Chiufen), a hillside village famous for its narrow streets, traditional buildings and numerous tea houses. Jiufen is said to have been the inspiration for the animation film Chihiro's Journey.
After lunch (not included, at your own expense), you'll head for the Pingxi district, first to visit Shifen Falls, also known as Taiwan's little Niagara Falls! You'll be able to view them from a variety of angles from the various viewing platforms.
Not far from theagrave; you'll visit Shifen Old Street. This is where the annual Lantern Festival takes place, during which thousands of flying lanterns are released into the air. You'll have the opportunity to pick up a lantern, after having written your wishes on one of its sides!
You will then be taken back to Taipei by bus (point of departure).
